Virginia Slims Cigarettes Ad 1972Full color 9 1/2″ x 13″ ad for the Slim cigarettes made for Women. The top of the ad shows a picture of an old dining room where a fiftieth wedding anniversary is being celebrated. The lady of the union is sitting at the dining room table having just lit up a cigarette to the astonishment of everyone present, especially her husband. The caption explains that “In 1910 , Mrs Marita Duffy smoked her first cigarette on the occasion of her fiftieth wedding anniversary/ Mr. Duffy began to wonder if he’d married the wrong girl.” The modern picture in the lower portion of the page shows an attractive lady, wearing a dress from Arnold Copper, holding a lit Virginia Slims as she laughs into her hand and the headline tells her that “You’ve come a long way, baby.”
