Description

United States Rubber Company WW2 Ad 1945Black and white 9 1/2″ x 13″ ad that explains how Thread has a different use during wartime. The ad has a picture of an older lady in 1941 working with Bedspread Yarn. Lying on top of her project is a belt of machine gun bullets that curves across the ad past a machine gunner in an airplane. The ad headline refers to “The thread that reached the sky” and explains how the Textile Division of U.S. Rubber was formed to provide things like thread and other fabrics for the war effort. This ad is larger than my scanner bed so the outer edges of the ad will not be visible in the scanned view.
