Description
Black and white 9 3/4″ x 13 3/4″ ad that is for Southern Comfort 100 Proof Whiskey. This ad must have been very interesting to the masses. It had a drawing of a horse carriage running full speed along a rutted road that went alongside the river towards a steamboat that was chugging along. The ad text, above a picture of the wonderful bottle of Southern Comfort, says that “this prized liquor costs you nothing…”. Hearts pounding, “if you don’t agree that Southern Comfort makes the most delicious highballs and straight drinks you ever tasted. Ah-h, here is something different! So deliciously different we want you to try it. For this is an adventure in drinking. You’ve never tasted anything like it. This traditional drink of the Old South is made from a secret formula that combines the wonderful taste qualities of several liquors. At the verhy first sip, you’ll recognize a full-bodied character, like that of a great whiskey…and a boldness and bouquet usually found only in fine brandy. But it’s real secret is its taste – that smooth, mellow taste of a rare liqueur that gives Southern Comfort a deliciousness unmatched by any other drink. And it’s 100 proof, same as a bonded whiskey. We know from experience that one drink of Southern Comfort is usually all it takes to make another lifelong friend. That’s why we dare to make this unprecedented money-back offer…”. The Money-Back Offer is at the bottom of the page and it is asking you to “Try the half-pint Southern Comfort Sampler at our risk”. The ad assures you that you would like it and offered to send your money back if you didn’t feel that it was worthy and you sent the empty half-pint back to them.
