RCA Victor Ad 1956 NovemberFull color 9 3/4″ x 13 3/4″ ad for the RCA Victor Big Color TV sets. Shown in this ad is a set (the Aldrich (21CS781) in lined oak grained finish) with a young girl standing next to it, and the ad claims that you could “See Color every night”. The headline claims that “‘Living Color’ At $495 Is Now Best TV Buy – It’s Like 2 Sets In 1”. The text then tells us that “Here is double-value Color TV at the lowest price in history. Now you and your family will see every program exactly as it is broadcast. The big Color shows in breathtaking ‘Living Color’ – all regular programs in sharp, clear black-and-white. You see them easily with new ‘Color-Quick’ tuning – so simple a child can do it. Turn two knobs and the screen blossoms out in Color. You have your choice of 10 Big Color models – from table models to full-door console in contemporary or traditional styling”. There are four pictures along the right-hand side of this ad. The top one talks about the 21″ Picture Tube and it starts off by saying that it is “Big As Life”. Next it shows a man on color TV with a lady holding a picture of the man up to the television to match what is being seen and the caption starts off by saying “All the colors of life”. Then it talks about the Big Color TV service being “Practical and dependable” and, last, it shows the set showing a black and white picture as opposed to a color picture and, it starts off, by saying that it is “Like 2 sets in 1”.
