1968 Sportomatic – Black and white 8″ x 10 3/4″ ad for their new, optional Sportomatic Automatic transmission. There is a picture of the shift lever supplied with this transmission and the headline asks “Spoilsport?”. The text begins by worrying about the loss of style and performance but explains that you can still shift manually if you want to, it is just if you are dog-tired then you can just cruise home with ease. It claims that, in fact, the performance is even better because the shifts will be faster since you no longer have to use the clutch.
