Description
1937 LaSalle V-8 – Black and white 9 1/2″ x 14″ ad for the 1937 LaSalle V-8. The headline says “Look at LaSalle! V-8 – One of America’s Most Economical Cars!”. The ad has a drawing of an aged couple and their daughter who has just graduated from college, standing outside of the antique buildings, behind their LaSalle as they are leaving. The ad claims that “The most astonishing thing about the new LaSalle V-8 – aside from its brillant performance – is its economy. If you figure the total cost of ownership – from the day you buy it to the day you trade it in – a LaSalle will probably cost no more than a car in the lower price ranges. LaSalle, you know, offers the economy of quality. Built by Cadillac, to the finest Cadillac standards, LaSalle has a longer life than you could expect from any car below it in price. LaSalle’s performance is also unusually trouble-free. Being built to Cadillac precision standards, LaSalle does not reveal the usual wear and tear as the miles pile up. In fact, no car does a better job keeping out of the service station. Add to all this a remarkable economy of gasoline and oil, and you begin to see how easy it is to own a LaSalle. Have you looked at LaSalle? If not, we cordially invite you to do it today. One look and one ride – and you’ll see why so many thousands are stepping up to this big, 125-horsepower V-8″.
