Description

Hunt's Ad April 1964Full color 10″ x 13 1/2″ ad that really presents us with a problem concerning the why of Hunt’s Tomato Catsup. The picture in the ad shows an empty, clean bottle with labels on it lying on it’s side. There is one tomato inside of it, a large one that seems to be as big as the bottle is wide. There is another very small one and one that is nearly as big as the one inside sitting outside, waiting for their turn to “pop in”. The ad starts out with the question “Don’t ask us how we got the tomato in. Ask us why. It then says “We put it in so the whole world will know we use BIG tomatoes in Hunt’s catsup. Big plump tomatoes make catsup taste better. Tomatoes simmered with seven select spices. Not six or four or two. SEVEN”. I guess they told us.
