Description

Campbell’s Ad 1962 AprilFull color 10″ x 13 1/2″ ad for “The famous flavor wrapped in red”. This brings us to the Campbell Tomato. It offers “A short story about the Campbell Tomato and why it pleases so many people”. It then offers six photographs that document the procedure. It starts off with the dedicated scientists working on the plants. It becomes important to perfect a plant taking three years to get seed for one tomato crop. This seed is sent South where it is planted and, when it has grown to 6 to 9 inches, it is taken from the ground and sent North in temperature controlled trucks. It becomes pampered in every step maturing until completion. They are then washed and showered and checked with the Color Difference Meter to be sure they are the right shade of red. They are then prepared in so many ways to please everyone.
