Description

Campbell's Ad 1944 JanuaryFull color 9 3/4″ x 13 3/4″ ad that touts Campbell’s Chicken Gumbo Soup, Campbell’s Bean with Bacon Soup and Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup. This ad starts off with the caption at the top saying that it’s “Easy as A-B-C to make nourishing meals out of war-shortened menus”. It then has pictures of a bowl of each of the three mentioned soups and descriptions of each of them. For the Campbell’s Chicken Gumbo Soup it says that “Good soup is the secret – piping hot and substantial – a soop like Campbell’s Chicken Gumbo Soup. Then it has a picture of the Campbell’s Bean with Bacon Soup and it claims that “Here’s another soup that has a magical way with husky appetites. It’s Campbell’s Bean with bacon – a hearty old-fashioned bean soup filled with the tempting taste of bacon along with plenty of plump beans”. Lastly, we have the Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup. “And don’t forget Cream of Mushroom – a favorite of favorites back again on your grocer’s shelf. It’s extra-thick and extra-rich, blended smooth as velvet with lots of tender hothouse mushrooms”. With soups like these, the choice must have been hard to make.
