Description

Bufferin Ad 1954Black and white 9 3/4″ x 13 1/2″ ad that has a celebrity-induced advertisement. In this ad “Arthur Godfrey says, “Take it from me, Bufferin works just as they say, twice as fast as aspirin!”. There is a picture on the right of a bottle of Bufferin only partially out of the box, opened with two tablets sitting outside of the bottle and the words “Next time you have a headache, a pain or a cold, do what I do. Take two Bufferin tablets and get relief fast…and I mean twice as fast as aspirin. The left side of the ad gives the proof of what they have been saying. There is a cutout of the human body and there are three points of interest. The first one says that “Medical science knows that a pain reliever must go through the stomach and into the blood stream to relieve pain”. The second one says that Bufferin combines aspirin with two antacid ingredients; gets the pain reliever into the blood streat twice as fast as aspirin”. And the third item finishes by saying “So Bufferin acts twice as fast as aspirin to relieve pain. Take two Bufferin tablets the next time pain strikes and get fast relief”.
