Description

Borden Ad 1948Full color 10″ x 14″ ad for their Entire Line of Products. The headline has Elsie the Borden Cow asking “Should husbands and wives take separate vacations?” as she looks at brochures and her husband sullenly cleans his fishing tackle. The text continues with them bickering about taking separate vacations, him with “the fellows” and her with the kids. She tries to pawn the kids off on him and he responds by claiming to know nothing about what to feed them. She responds by reminding him about all of the lectures she has given him about the foods from Borden’s and he changes tactics by claiming that the kids will scare the fish. Elsie starts talking about all of them camping together and Elmer fumbles around talking about how difficult it is to bake a pie over a campfire, Elsie reminds him about Lady Borden Ice Cream at which point Elmer realizes that he has run out of ammunition. At the bottom of the ad the complete line of products from Borden’s is shown. This ad is larger than my scanner bed so the outer edges of the ad will not be visible in the scanned view.
