BMC Ad June 1960BMC 850 – Black and white 10″ x 14″ ad with an overhead picture of this car which has just driven a series of right-angled curves and the inquisitive headline wonders “Why do we call this car the Incredible 850”. You read the text which answers “First the ‘850’ is only ten feet long”. The performance is Incredible” according to the ad with a top speed of around 70 yet getting nearly 45 miles on a gallon of gas. The engine is mounted crosswise which, according to them, enables there to be much more space available. BMC produced the Austin-Healey and the Morris and claimed to be the largest car manufacturer in Britain.
