Description

Campbell’s Ad March 1953Full color 9 1/4″ x 13 1/2″ ad that is for Campbell’s Cream of Chicken Soup. This ad starts off by saying that “Where the Chicken’s Plenty and the Cream is Rich” and has a drawing of the Campbell’s Guy and the Campbell’s Girl standing, dressed as farmers, out in front of a barn. The ad has a drawing of a bowl of Campbell’s Cream of Chicken Soup, I know that’s what it is because there is a full can of it, next to the plate. The picture shows someone preparing to eat a spoonful of it. The text below this says that “No wonder old-time farm cooking created this fine soup” and there is a drawing of a kitchen with three generations of people working on a meal. The text says that “In sunny farm kitchens of long ago – where the chicken and cream were plentiful – good home cooks created this delicious, substantial soup. Today, in making Campbell’s Cream of Chicken Soup, an equally generous hand is used. To a slow-simmered chicken broth are added heavy whipping cream and tender pieces of chicken, with a garnish of celery. Result – a soup rich with chicken…smooth with cream…and in only a few years, one of Campbell’s most popular soups. Is it on your soup shelf?”.
