Simoniz Car Wax Ad 1954Black and white 9 1/2″ x 13 3/4″ ad for Simoniz Bodygard – New Liquid Car Wax. This ad shows two different drawings of people who worried about their car surviving the times without something that will help them. The drawing on the left shows a man sitting on the hood of his car with two tennis racquets while his wife is driving. “Alas, this is Alec, whose car polish twould seem. Can produce nothing more than a very thin gleam. So when sandflies and beetles fly onto the premise. He appears to be playing motorized tennis”..The drawing on the right shows a couple driving along very contentedly. “Not so with McPhitor! He always selects. The easy on wax that’s rock-hard – that protects. For Bodygard’s finish no bug juices can pass. And his paint job’s as safe as if kept under glass. (He feels extra breezy – ’cause the job is so easy)”. Below these, the ad says “Moral: Use New Liquid Bodygard – the first, easy wipe-on wax that protects your car with this rock-hard finish. Protects 9 times longer that skimpy-shine polishes”. Makes sense to me.
