Description

American Tourister Luggage Ad 1954Full color 9 1/2″ x 13 1/2″ ad for their Tri-Taper line of luggage. The ad has a drawing of a relaxed and comfortable couple lying on a red Flying Carpet as they and their three pieces of American Tourister are safely whisked to wherever it is they are headed. The headline calls it “The light-hearted way to go!” and the rest of the ad tries to explain why this is called “The world’s most modern luggage”. There are three pictures that are devoted to specific aspects of what is best about it. The first calls it an “Open and Shut Case for Beauty” and shows a lady holding hers open for all to see that the interior is stylish enough to hold and protect your clothes. The second picture calls it a “High-Flying Money Saver” and indicates that each will hold more clothes to save you money in extra luggage fees. The third picture shows a Porter and a train station wheeling quite a load of suitcases and the caption talks about the sturdy construction that will resist dents and that it will wash clean with a damp cloth. The text also claims that a child can lift it yet a 200-lb man can stand on it and it looks very modern. It also talks about the Fiberglas used in the construction and explains what the Tri-Taper means and how it will help you.
