Description

Oldsmobile Ad 1946Oldsmobile – Black and white 9 1/2″ x 13 1/2″ ad with information about their Hydra-Matic Drive, a piece of equipment refined by use in World War II. There is a picture of a lady in an Oldsmobile and she is supposed to be driving down a neighborhood street while passersby are looking enviously at her. It was called “The Drive that Shifts for Itself!…and takes the clutch pedal right out of the car.” The text quickly mentions the “smart new Oldsmobile before getting back to the ease and simplicity of the Hydra-Matic Drive. There is a mention in the ad that Oldsmobile did introduce the Hydra-Matic Drive in 1939 but that it was refined by its use on tanks.
