Description

BSA Ad July 1967Black and white 5″ x 5 1/4″ ad that gives a very blunt analysis of what this motorcycle can do. The headline, next to a stopwatch that verifies what the headline is saying, states “0 to 60 in 5.4 seconds”. There is an asterisk that indicates this was done in a Cycle World Road Test in April 1967 and shows a side view of this powerful beast. The text begins by saying that “If that’s not quick enough, get a rocket”. Even though this taunt brings back memories of the Roadrunner and Wiley Coyote cartoons the text claims that Cycle World has anointed this motorcycle as the “Fastest street machine under 750 cc…tested”. It then mentions that “Asphalt tearing torque isn’t everything”, tosses out a few more items and urges you to go see your BSA dealer.  BSA Spitfire III.
