Description

Smirnoff Vodka Ad 1960Full color 9 1/2 x 13″ ad for their Smirnoff Vodka shown with a bottle of Rose’s Lime Juice. The ad has a picture of actor Bert Lahr, who is supposed to be The Carpenter, sitting on a rock next to someone dressed up as a Walrus and is leaning on the rock next to him. The headline in the ad tells us Said the Walrus to The Carpenter: “Your Gimlet is Sublime” and then goes on to say that “A good Vodka Gimlet tastes limey – but sublimely dry. Its clean tang of lime is subtle, a whisper rather than a shout. To give this lordly cocktail true dryness and real gusto, be sure to use smooth Smirnoff Vodka…and genuine, imported Rose’s Lime Juice. One thing more. Stirring keeps a Gimlet cloudless. So shake your head if you see it shaken – or stirred with anything but Smirnoff!”. I guess that just about says it all.
