York Cigarettes Ad 1962Full color 9 1/4″ x 12″ ad that has a picture of a man sitting on a chair holding a York Imperial Size cigarette between his two forefingers as he studiously considers it’s length. The ad headline calls it “The first Imperial-size Cigarette!” and it explains that York uses its imperial length instead of a filter to make rich tobaccos taste mild and smooth!”. It then says that “Here’s a new cigarette…longer than King-size…and there’s an honest-to-goodness smoker’s reason behind its creation. York travels the smoke farther…farther…farther…to improve smoking taste. Yes, York uses its Imperial length instead of a filter to make rich tobaccos taste mild and smooth. A superbly luxurious blend of tobaccos for rich flavor. Imperial length for mild, smooth taste”. There is also a box that begins “Difference in Quality You Can Measure”. It then says that “The difference in York is in the smoke itself. Prime quality tobaccos create a richer smoke. Imperial length gives the smoke a longer route to travel – to maintain a taste of mildness and smoothness”.
