Description

Whitman's Candy Ad 1965Full color 9″ x 13″ ad for The Wonderful World Of Whitman. There is a photo of Leo Lochner working studiously on the many bowl that he needs to fashion the candy for Whitman’s. The text says that “The Whitman candy master won’t quit at 5″. It then says that “Leo Lochner loves to create the luscious new Whitman’s candies that are such a help for gentlemen who are courting. 7:22 P.M….8:55 P.M. But our candy master Leo Lochner isn’t watching the clock. Surrounded by a rainbow of delightful ingredients, he’s scooping Whitman’s chocolate (made from a secret recipe) onto one of his new candy creations. Leo continues a late-hour candy making tradition started by our original candy master in 1842. He’s just as stubborn, too. He refuses to use anything but the purest and best fruits, sugars and nut meats in Whitman’s candies. All Whitman candy makers share this dedication to quality. They cook our delightful candies with that special care only Whitman takes. Do Whitman candies please women? Leo was married in 1929 – the same year he became one of our candy makers. Could it be just a coincidence?”.
