Description

Tide Ad September 1952Full color 9 1/2″ x 13″ ad for their Laundry Detergent. The ad has a drawing of a proud lady putting a tablecloth down that is so clean that it shines and her daughter and another older lady stand beaming with pride. The headline over this scene claims that “She spreads the cleanest cloth in town…she swears by Tide. The main headline claims that Tide gets clothes cleaner than any soap!” and offers that Tide not only washes clothes cleaner – but whiter, too, in hardest water!”. The text brings up three points to consider; that you will get Cleaner Clothes!, they will be Whiter, Too! and that it has New Mildness for Hands!”. The ad also urges you to “ALways buy Two…One for Laundry…One for Dishes!”.
