Description

Swift's Baby Food Ad 1953Full color 7 3/4″ x 10 3/4″ ad for their Meats for Babies. There is a picture of a baby who looks like he is practicing a martial arts move and the headline says “Nothing builds baby like meat…so feed it to ’em daily!. Pictured in the ad is an opened can of one of their varieties with a spoon and a container while the caption mentions seven varieties to choose from: BeefLambVealPorkLiverHeart and Liver-and-bacon. Not a lot of flavors to brag about later but your child would surely get his or her ration of iron. The text explains the value of meat over other forms of baby foods and claims meat is 5 times richer in protein than the usual babies’ meat “soups”. It even claims to be better than mother’s milk, ounce for ounce. It claims to be specially formulated so that babies can start eating in as early as three weeks.
