Description

Studebaker Ad 1944Studebaker Quality – Full color 9 1/2″ x 13″ ad that illustrates how not even World War II could disable the family teams that Studebaker has used to build pride and responsibility into their workmanship. This ad tells the story of the Connell family of South Bend, long-time employees of Studebaker. The ad has a drawing of the two brothers, George in his Marine uniform and Francis in his Navy uniform facing each other on an airfield filled with soldiers getting ready to lift off in the planes behind them. There is a smaller picture of their father, Charles R who is working on one of the engines that will be installed in one of our airships, possibly even one of the ones that one of his sons may be up in. The text talks about the comfort that any soldier who has worked at a Studebaker plant will feel at knowing that the engines on the plane that he was flying were built with the same standard of quality that they put into the cars they were building, so few years before. The ad mentions that Studebaker’s war effort included being the Builder of Wright Cyclone engines for the Boeing Flying Fortress, big multiple-drive military trucks and other vital war material.
