Description

Statler Hotels Ad 1945Black and white 9 1/2″ x 13 3/4″ ad for Statler Hotels. This ad is trying to tie Santa Claus in with the advertising for hotels. We have a six-frame set of cartoons starting off with a picture of Santa Claus taking off with his sleigh and his reindeer and flying over the igloo that, it seems, he has made all the presents for the world. In Picture #2 Santa has parked on top of a Hotel Statler and is tiptoeing towards the edge. In Picture #3, he has climbed down and is going through the bedroom window as the reindeer are looking down at him. In Picture #4, we see him fast asleep in the bed with his clothes hanging up next to the bed and his boots neatly set by the bed. In Picture #5, the banner says “Next Morning” and we see Santa, still sitting in his bed which is now hooked up to the reindeer and it is flying through the sky. And, in Picture #6, there is a picture of the hotel room that Santa stayed in and, he took the bed and left his sleigh. There is a sign on the bed saying “What A Bed. Just couldn’t resist taking it. Will call for sled next year. Merry Xmas. Santa.
