Description

Schlitz Ad April 1951Full color 9 1/2″ x 14″ ad for The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous. The picture shows a Spring day and a man is working on getting things around his house ready for the warm weather. He is kneeling on a newspaper placed on the grass and brushing yellow paint onto some wooden chairs while the wooden storm windows that have been removed are leaning against the house. His wife is standing there, hands on hips, and looking as the man’s dog is sitting up next to him with a cold can of Schlitz and a can opener in his mouth. The headline reminds us that a dog is “Man’s best friend” and the text tells us why Schlitz is “The Largest-selling Beer in America”.
