Description

Schenley Whiskey Ad 1937 MarchBlack and white 10″ x 7″ ad that is for Schenley’s Old Quaker Straight Whiskey. This ad shows four different men shouting and hollering with their arms raised and the men are as unalike as you could imagine. There is a man in a suit who is raising his top hat over his head with his right hand and has his left hand wrapped around the arm of the cowboy to his left who has his left arm raised so that he is putting the railroad man next to him in the shade while the farmer to his left is holding a pitchfork with his left arm and has his right around the arm of the railroad man. The ad headline shouts out that “You Don’t Have To Be Rich To Enjoy Rich Whiskey”. The text in the box starts out with the saying, “Brothers! Don’t you want to save your dimes?”. It then says that “In penthouse, prairie, factory and farm – millions are finding – “there’s a barrel of quality in every bottle.” It bears the Schenley Mark of Merit. As it says at the bottom of the ad, “Straight Whiskey…As You Prefer In Bourbon Or Rye”.
