S.O.S. Ad 1951Black and white 9 1/2″ x 13″ ad that is for S.O.S. Magic Scouring Pads. This ad starts off with the statement that S.O.S. easily removes burned-on grease to clean your stove. It then claims that “Independent survey reveals S.O.S. approved by stove-makers, home economists, home makers”. It then claims that “Of course, you know it – S.O.S. is wonderful for cleaning stoves. And now, your opinion is confirmed by an independent survey among 3278 home-makers, home economists, stove-makers. They express overwhelming approval of S.O.S. to clean ovens (racks and liners), broilers (racks and pans), burners (rings and bowl), griddles. Keep S.O.S. handy”. The ad then shows four different pictures indicating how and where to clean these items. It shows them cleaning the “Stove top – burned-on spatters clean right off with S.O.S., then it shows “Oven rack – burned-on crust wipes right off with S.O.S., cleaning “Broiler and pan – burned-on grease easily cleaned with magic S.O.S. and, lastly, “Griddle – burned-on scorches quickly cleaned with magic S.O.S..
