Plymouth Ad 1938Plymouth De Luxe 4-Door Sedan – Black and white 9 1/2″ x 13 3/4″ ad for these Plymouths. This ad starts with the headline asking the question, “Isn’t a Car a Bigger Decision than a Suit? while answering “An Automobile Is Certainly The Greater Investment…So Look This Plymouth Over Carefully And Know Exactly What You Get!”. This ad then has eight pictures along with captions to help you decide. In Picture 1 it shows two men shopping for clothes and the caption starts off “When you buy a Suit of Clothes…”. In Picture 2 it shows a couple smiling happily as they are driving in a car and the caption starts off by saying that Plymouth’s amazing new ride will astonish you”. In Picture 3 it shows a gas station attendant holding up the gas nozzle as it claims the “Greatest economy in gas”Picture 4 has a drawing that shows that the “Floating power engine mountings hold the engine perfectly balanced…absorb vibration”. In Picture 5 it shows a salesman pointing out the “Greater strength…a quieter ride…with a Hypoid rear axle”. Next, we have Picture 6 which shows a man pointing out the upper trim in the rear interior roof. Then, we have Picture 7 which shows the buyer of the car reading over the information given him while another man is standing there as the first line urges him to “Check every point before you come to a decision”. Last, we see Picture 8 which shows “The 1938 Plymouth De Luxe 4-Door Sedan with trunk delivers in Detroit for only $815 – other models as low as $645 – including Federal taxes”.
