Description
Black and white 9 3/4″ x 13 3/4″ ad that is for Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer. This ad is a five-frame cartoon that is entitled “The Browns Discover the ’33 to 1′ Good Neighbor Policy”. In the first frame it shows a man, weary from unloading his items from the moving truck, and his new neighbor looks over at him. In the second frame it shows him saying to the old man, “Moving’s a nightmare! I’m so tired I’d trade everything for a glass of beer”. The neighbor, standing on the other side of the fence and holding a pipe, says “Easy there, neighbor! We were just hoping you’d join us in a sandwich and a glass of ’33 to 1′“. In the third frame, they are all sitting down and refreshed and the man moving in says, “This is mighty friendly of you, Jones. But what’s the ’33 to 1′ about?”. The man, holding up two bottles of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, says “It’s Pabst Blue Ribbon…33 fines brews blended to make one great beer! You’ve got a treat coming”. In the fourth frame, the new man is happy and he says “Say! This is the only good thing that’s happened all day. Smoothest beer I’ve ever tasted”. The old man, with a smile on his face, responds “That’s because it’s blended like fine coffee and champagne. I hope you’ll enjoy it with us often”. In the fifth and final frame, the two new people are unpacking in their bedroom and the wife says to her husband “Did you ever know such friendly neighbors? She asked me to meet her friends at luncheon”. The man responds, “That Jones is a grand fellow. He certainly deserves a blue ribbon for his hospitality”. In the lower right hand side of this ad, it shows the old man saying that “It pays to follow the ’33 to 1′ Good Neighbor Policy. You win a Blue Ribbon for friendliness every time!”. The ad then says that “When you serve Pabst Blue Ribbon, your guests enjoy something found in no other beer: a blend of 33 fine brews to make one single glass! Like the finest champagne, or your favorite coffee, it’s expertly blended to make it SMOOTHER…TASTIER…ALWAYS THE SAME! Today – give your neighbor a Blue Ribbon treat. Let him discover how delicious a beer can be when it’s blended ’33 to 1′”.
