Description
Black and white 5″ x 12 1/4″ ad that is advertising the New Haven R.R. Coaches. The ad at the top of the page shows a polar bear sitting inside one of these New Haven Coaches and looking at a thermometer he is holding as the text says “A Joke on the Weather Man at 40 degrees in the shade…en route to New England in streamlined air-conditioned coaches!”. There are four drawings in this ad, the one marked 1 shows a man getting dressed as he says to his wife “Today’s going to be a scorcher, dear. Too bad Jim and I have to out of town on business instead of cooling off at the beach with you and Helen”. The picture marked 2 shows two men and a porter heading towards a train as the one says to the other, “No use talking, Jim, it’s a woman’s world. Whew, it’s hot! I only hope those air-conditioned coaches are half what their cracked up to be”. In the picture marked 3 it shows two men, sitting very comfortably, as the one says to the other “Well, this is something like! No wonder our porter was chuckling to himself…and say, do you know, I think the girls knew about this too”. In the picture marked 4 it shows the two women sitting together as the one says to the other, “Those two? I’ll bet their even cooler and more comfortable than we are! The New Haven’s new air-conditioned coaches are simply marvelous”. The ad then says that ““New Haven” weather is always the same – cool, fresh, healthful. Every through day train on the “boulevard of steel” is scientifically air-conditioned…and every passenger feels clean, dust-free, delightfully comfortable. Visit New England often this summer…days, weekends, whenever you can get away. And of course – travel by train”.
