Description

Life Savers Candy Ad 1945 DecemberBlack and white 5 1/4″ x 13 1/2″ ad for Wint-O-Green LifeSavers. This is a three-picture ad showing the evolution of a relationship with Winto-O-Green LifeSavers. In the first picture we see a couple sitting together in a room and the man is talking and, it looks like, the girl is not even listening. The words next to the ad say that “If she acts ‘all bored’ like this…”. In the second picture, we see the same two people standing happily on the back of a train which labeled the Honeymoon Express with the text saying “When you’d rather be ‘all aboard’ like this”. In the third and final picture, we see the two of them, happily sharing two seats together, and the man is holding up a Wint-O-Green LifeSaver to his mouth and the ad caption says “Try This” with an arrow pointing towards it. The ad text, underneath this, says the “Moral: Everybody’s breath offends sometimes. Let Life Savers sweeten and freshen your breath – after eating, drinking and smoking”.
