Description

Libby's Ad 1956Full color 9 1/2″ x 13 1/2″ ad that is for more things that you can do with Libby’s Sliced Pineapple. This one is for “Pineapple with Hawaiian Flower by Mary Hale Martin. The headline for the ad is Libby’s New Easy-Do Salad” and it looks very appetizing. The ad then asks “Ever eat a flower? You can eat the gay Hibiscus blossom that decorates this refreshing salad. First chill and drain Libby’s Pineapple Slices and place on lettuce. Top each slice with cream cheese softened with syrup drained from pineapple. For flower, overlap five very thin slices of carrot to form petals. Spear triangular bit of carrot slice on cocktail pick and insert in center of flower as stamen. Important: be sure to use the freshest tasting pineapple – the kind that’s quick-packed in Hawaii – Libby’s Pineapple Slices. This brand new salad will start everyone talking! Be the first to serve it”. In addition, there is something to be made with Libby’s Peaches and something else to be made with Libby’s Fruit Cocktail.
