Description

Kodak Ad 1942Three color 9 1/2″ x 14″ ad for Kodak Verichrome Film Snapshots. This ad shows a young man, wearing a uniform, smiling as he is looking at a few snapshots from home. The ad shows three samples of what he was looking at. The first says “Dear Son – Bozo can’t seem to get used to my giving him his bath” as his father gives his dog a bath. The second is of his mother on a bicycle and the note is written “Bringing home the bacon – Mother” and the third is from his girl/sister showing a girl lying on the ground with a baby bird climbing on her shoulder as the note says, “Add this to your rogue’s gallery – Betsy”. The headline for the ad asks you to “Visit Him Every Week In Snapshots before going into the rest of the ad. “Snapshots from home – they’re about the best gift you can send that soldier of yours. Slip a few in every letter. They’ll remind him, better than words, that you’re thinking of him…wishing him luck. And don’t take any chances with snapshots as important as these. Load with Kodak Verichome Film – the best-liked film in America. The secret of Verichrome’s great popularity is its remarkable ‘range’ – which takes care of reasonable exposure errors…lengthens your snapshot day…gives good snapshots even with the sun behind the clouds…makes any camera a better camera”.
