Description

Jell-O Ad 1945Full color 10″ x 13 1/2″ ad that tells you to “Make it more and merrier – with Jell-O. There are three examples on the left side with small animals offering advice. First there is a little Squirrel asking if you “Want to be frugal with fruit?. There were still two months to go in World War II when this ad came out so the question of when fresh fruit is hard to get makes sense. Their suggestion about combining fruit with Jell-O makes sense. Next there is a little boy Squirrel reaching up and saying “’tis the last can of summer”. They suggest combining fruit with the same flavor Jell-O to make it last longer. Last we have the little boy Squirrel looking at a bowl and saying “When the potluck isn’t such hot luck”. They suggest that when you have only a few leftover vegetables for dinner, combine them with some Jell-O for a change. There are three recipes on the right side of the ad. These are Fruited Ruby FlakesSunny Cherry Tarts and Vegetable Rice Medley.
