Description

General Electric Ad 1965 OctoberFull color 9 3/4″ x 13 3/4″ ad for General Electric’s Show’N Tell For Children. This is a very unique little item, the ad headline claims that “You’ve never seen anything like this before. It’s General Electric’s new Show’N Tell, a home entertainment center for children”. Above the headline there is a picture of this unit playing, what looks like, a 45 record and, beneath this, there is a picture coming through on the picture of the set. The ad text claims that “It shows full-color pictures in time to words and music. Complete programs like Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Wizard of Oz. There’s history. Literature. As well as educational programs created by World Book Encyclopedia. 140 Exciting programs in all, and each costs less than $1. Easy To Operate. Your child (1) puts on a record, (2) drops in the Show Film and (3) turns the set on. There is no need to darken room. Each program is nearly 4 minutes long and consists of a 33 1/3 record plus a Show Film of 15 color slides”. The ad continues talking about how this is a “4-Speed Phonograph, too”.
