Description

Four Roses Whiskey Ad 1968Full color 10″ x 13 1/2″ ad for Four Roses Blended Whiskey and another drink designed for “fruit lovers”. It shows a tall glass filled with a drink poured from the bottle of Four Roses parked next to the glass. Besides the liquid ingredients there is a cherry floating in the glass and a wedge of orange wedged in the top. The ad headline calls it “The ‘Roses’ Summer Sour: it’s a 10-oz air conditioner”. The ad says that it “Works easy. Just sip and cool. Sip and cool. Makes easy, too. Pour into a shaker or blender 1 jigger of Four Roses (1 1/2 oz.) and 1 jigger of water – add 1 packet of instant whiskey sour mix – and ice. Shake or blend, then pour entire contents into a highball glass. Top with club soda. Stir. Garnish with a cherry and orange slice. (If you prefer, the juice of 1 lemon and 1 tsp. powered sugar may be substituted for instant whiskey sour mix.) Keep this in mindFour Roses is created to taste light. And to keep its flavor down to the last cooling swallow. That’s what makes the ‘Roses’ Summer Sour a very special kind of summer cooler”.
