Description

Durene Clothing Ad 1954Black and white 9 3/4″ x 13 1/2″ ad that says it is “Satisfying every way…Duerene-labeled cotton knits”. There are three sets of photos of these clothing in action. The first one shows a young child standing up and investigating the contents of a lower drawer in the kitchen. The second shows a young lady standing in her dress and shirt with the cupboard in her right hand and the open door to the refrigerator in her left. The third, largest photo shows a young child sitting in his high-chair with his spoon in his right hand and holding it up for approval as the ice cream on the bottom of the spoon drips just a little bit more. The ad asks you to “Say firmly Durene in any infant’s department and see what wonders you get in creepers, coveralls, polo shirts, underwear and socks. Durene is the combed, mercerized cotton yarn with a combination of virtues no ordinary cotton, no synthetic yarn, can touch. It’s more absorbent, releases moisture faster. It has a delightful texture that washing only refreshes. It launders beautifully, refuses to sag or stretch, resists shrinking and wears supremely well. Luckily, you can find the same prize performance in knits for the whole family. Keep a sharp eye out for the name”.
