De Soto Ad 1951De Sotos – Full color 9 1/2″ x 13 1/2″ ad that assures us that “No other car rides like a De Soto. There is a picture of the front end of a Red De Soto and the smile on the male passenger’s face is visible from the street. The ad calls attention to the facts that the “Oriflow Shock Absorvers swallow bumps”, the “Completely Waterproof Ignition System”, the “More Powerful High Compression Engine” and the fact that it “Lets you drive without shifting”. The text talks about the Comfort and Safety (due to the big 12-inch brakes) designed into this car and calls it “A daily dividend in extra value. The ad mentions that they were sponsoring the Groucho Marx show on both radio and television.
