Description
Black and white 4 3/4″ x 12 1/4″ ad for their Regular and 5 Minute Cream of Wheat. This ad is one of the five-frame cartoons drawn by Al Capp with the Dogpatch group of characters telling the story. Daisy Mae comes to wake up L’il Abner who, as usual, is napping with the pigs. She tells him that Yowler has been kidnapped and is being held for ransom. Abner yawns himself up and staggers to what serves as a kitchen where the 5 Minute Cream of Wheat is being prepared. Abner slowly eats some and, with a push in the back, heads to the cave where the Yowler is being held captive. He crawls in and asks if they are ready to return the “victim”. As the kid hollers the kidnappers respond that they are the “victims”. The last frame show Abner hauling the suddenly quiet kid back home being asked why is he quiet. Abner replies that he likes Cream of Wheat “which is so good for li’l chillun!!”.
