Campbell’s Ad - March 1967Full color 9 3/4″ x 13 1/2″ ad that is designed to convince all of us about the Good Quality Campbell’s puts into their products. This ad shows an older lady smiling as she is working on picking some greens. The ad wants you to “Meet Mrs. Rose Hofmann (She’s been working for you for 44 years at Campbell’s)”. It then says that “Mrs. Hofmann likes crocheting, dancing, traveling – and making good things in the kitchen. It was back in the early Twenties that Mrs. Hofmann started working at Campbell’s in Camden, New Jersey. Today, she’s one of our very important “Guardians of Quality”: a Forelady in charge of vegetable sorting. She says she feels right at home in the Campbell kitchens. And no wonder! You see, Mrs. Hofmann’s immediate family has a total of 165 years of employment at Campbell’s Camden. She’s a shining example of the thousands of ladies who help with the cooking at Campbell’s. As one visitor told me recently: “The women who work here are so neat and clean and careful about the way they do things. I think any woman who’s ever cooked, herself, would enjoy seeing them”. Of course, Campbell has lots of impressive modern devices for helping them in their work of being careful. But you’d be surprised how many times we do things just the way you would in your own home. Sometimes nothing beats a sharp eye and a sharp paring knife. It’s our thousands of “Mrs. Hofmanns” who help us live up to the letter of this philosophy; To make the best, begin with the best – then cook with extra care”.
