Description

Campbell’s Ad January 1949Full color 9 1/2″ x 14″ ad that shows a lady holding up a can of Campbells Vegetable Soup and saying “I serve it – and it serves me…”. The lower half of the ad shows a large bowl of this soup, saying that it has “15 garden vegetables in a homey beef stock”, and it shows three reasons this soup is helpful. The first is “…to please my man” and it says “Breathes there a man who doesn’t go all out for the taste of good, homey vegetable soup? Men love the vegetables and the homey beef stock in Campbell’s Vegetable Soup. Certainly my husband does”. The second reason is “…for my children’s lunches”. Here it says “And of course all those fifteen different garden vegetables Campbell’s put in it, and that fine beef stock make it so nourishing for youngsters. Mine just spoon up this good soup, and usually ask for more”. The third and final reason is “as my all-the-family soup”. Here it says “So, naturally, I’ve made this my all-the=family song. It’s a main-dish that’s a mandish every time, and a children’s delight, too. I call it almost a meal in itself”.
