Campbell’s Ad 1956 MayFull color 9 1/2″ x 13 1/2″ ad that is for Campbell’s Vegetable Soup. This ad has a picture of a table that has a bowl of Campbell’s Vegetable Soup, a plate with several pieces of desert on it and a cup of coffee and the ad headline that says “Soup and a sweet – a pleasant treat!”. Below this it asks “Do you go for desserts – in a big way? Get teribly hungry for cake, pie or ice cream? Well, this is one way to have your cake and watch your waistline, too. Before your sweet – have a good soup! Campbell’s Vegetable Soup, for instance. There’s a lunch that satisfies any weight watcher’s conscience. It brings you the vitamins, minerals and proteins of 15 country-garden vegetables, carefully cooked in a seasoned broth that is distinctly Campbell’s. Yet a regular 7-oz. serving of vegetable soup is low in calories. Still room for dessert. So next time you feel like a sweet, have it – but have soup first. The combination makes great eating”. It then lists ten soups that are “Good Soups With Sweets”. These are Beef, Beef Noodle, Chicken with Rice, Chicken Gumbo, Chicken Noodle, Clam Chowder, Tomato, Scotch Broth, Vegetable and Vegetable Beef.
