Description

Buick Special Ad 1936Buick Special – Black and white 8″ x 14″ newspaper ad from G.A. Bowne, Inc in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The ad shows a pair of hands holding a tape measure up to a picture of this car and measuring the wheelbase as the ad headline encourages you to “Come see a car that’s BIGGER than its inches!”. The text starts out by claiming that “A sixteen-foot tape won’t measure the bumper-to-bumper stretch of a Buick Special and a yardstick gets lost in its backseat headroom space”. It goes on to reason that it shines when considered on its size alone but you have to also consider the Power and Steadiness as well. The ad goes on to mention the price range for this car as being from $765 (displayed in large letters) to $1945 (displayed in not-so-large letters).
