Campbell’s Ad 1946 DecemberFull color 9 1/2″ x 13 1/2″ ad that welcomes these tempting soups, Campbell’s Scotch Broth, Campbell’s Asparagus Soup and Campbell’s Chicken Gumbo Soup. This ad starts off by saying that “There’s something about soup that says WELCOME” above a drawing that includes pictures of all three of these soups, sitting there, simmering. Below this the ad says that you should “Let these tempting soups, served piping-hot, bring cheer and comfort and good eating to all the family”. It then goes on to describe each of these wonderful soups. For the Campbell’s Scotch Broth it begins by saying that “This really hefty soup brims with the things that add up to “man-appeal”. The meat stock is rich and full-bodied and filled with garden vegetables”. For the Campbell’s Asparagus Soup it starts off by saying that “The taste of spring is in every tempting spoonful of this delightful soup. It’s a smooth puree of young garden asparagus, enriched with golden table butter, delicately seasoned and studded with tender asparagus tips”. And for the third, Campbell’s Chicken Gumbo Soup, they say that “Here’s a chicken soup that’s excitingly different! Adapted from a proud old New Orleans recipe, Campbell’s Chicken Gumbo Soup has a delightful character all its own”.
