This ad has the headline saying that this was the “First portable TV ever built with a solid integrated circuit!” and, above this, there is the angled, curving words saying that it is “never before so much from so little!” and the “Actual size of Solid Integrated Circuit – a complete electronic circuit containing 24 transistors and diodes and all interconnecting wiring”. It then tells us that “Thousands of hours of constant use have demonstrated the unprecedented reliability of the new RCA Solid Integrated Circuit! No wonder solid integrated circuits are a vital component of the electronics systems of today’s space vehicles, where compactness, light weight and reliability are absolutely critical! Now RCA Victor adapts these Space Age circuits to the sound system of a tiny portable TV – another major advance over hand-wiring! Further, the new RCA Victor 12-inch Minikin boasts a solid-state transistorized power system – plus the famous RCA Solid Copper Circuit that won’t come loose or short circuit.
