Chesterfield Ad 1964 AugustFull color 9 1/2″ x 13 1/2″ ad for Chesterfield King Cigarettes. This ad, which starts off with the words Chesterfield People: They like a mild smoke, but just don’t like filters. (How about you?)” followed by pictures of three supposed Chesterfield smokers and a picture of a standing box of Chesterfield cigarettes with one pulled out and standing proud. Shown in this ad are Theodore J. Miller, dog breeder, Wisconsin; Larry Craig Dean, architect, Georgia and Paul J. Johansen, shipping lines port captain, New York. The fourth picture is showing a table in, what looks like a library, with a chair sitting just behind a pack of Chesterfield cigarettes. At the bottom of the ad, the text claims that “If you like a mild smoke, but don’t like filters, try today’s Chesterfield King – mildest-tasting Chesterfield in 51 years. Vintage tobaccos – grown mild, aged mild, blended mild. Made to taste even milder through longer length. They satisfy. Chesterfield King tastes great…yet it smokes so mild”.
