Description

Monarch Ad 1948Full color 10″ x 14″ ad for their selection of Fine Foods. There is an unusual picture of a cornfield where a lion with a crown on his head is picking corn and handing the ears to a parade of white rabbits who are walking past. They transport the corn to an old lathe where they are chucked in and, while one white rabbit turns the lathe with pedal power, another one chips the corn off the cob and directs them into a waiting pot, Here they are cooked and dispensed into cans that are moving past on an automated conveyor belt, lids are placed on and the finished cans are handed to a little girl who has the name “Lucy” stitched on her apron. She is placing the finished cans into cardboard boxes where they should be shipped out next. Stacked up behind the corn stalks that are being worked on is a pyramid of other Monarch canned items and the text contains a three stanza poem about the production of this product.
