Description

Morton Ad 1937Full color 8″ x 11″ ad that tells the story of when “An Edgewater Beach Waiter gave me a tip!”. The ad has a four-panel cartoon that tells the story of two people who traveled to Chicago. In the first panel they are sitting eating dinner in a restaurant. The husband finds it fun to be eating at the “famous Marine Dining Room” and his wife is amazed by the salt that pours on a rainy day. She asks the waiter about it and he says “That’s because we use Morton’s Salt, Madam”. Back home, in the third panel, the lady has gone to her store and she asks the man behind the counter “Can you tell be why Morton’s Salt doesn’t choke up saltcellars?”. The man replies “Because it has uniform cube crystals that don’t stick together on rainy days”. That night, the two people are enjoying dinner and the husband comments about learning about using Morton’s Salt. The wife replies, “the grocer tells me it costs a family only 2 cents a week to use”. The text again talks about the “cube-shaped crystals” preventing it from sticking together.
