Description

John Deere Ad 1966Full color 9 1/2″ x 13 1/2″ ad for their 110 Lawn and Garden Tractor. There is a picture of one of these in their trademark Green and Yellow color with the headline offering to explain “How to tell it’s a genuine John Deere Weekend Freedom Machine”. There are eight lines on this picture pointing toward features that are adequately bragged about in the captions. At the bottom of the ad are three pictures that, to me, seem to be laid out in reverse order. Picture #1 shows a man on his John Deere and the caption says “Mow an acre an hour”. Picture #2 shows a man and his young son enjoying a day of fishing and the caption says “Set your weekends free”. Picture #3, which is what you have to do to accomplish either of the first two, shows a wooden sign saying John Deere Lawn & Garden Tractor and the caption says “See your John Deere dealer.
